Difference Between Lawyer, Advocate , Barristers and Public Prosecutor etc.

              It has been seen that even law scholars get confuse and think lawyer, Advocate, and Barrister all are synonym/same .But in reality all these terms are not same ,all these terms have a different meanings.It is also been seen law students and people in general get confused between these day to day used terminology like Lawyer ,Advocate ,Barrister,Public Prosecutor ,Advocate general,Attorney general, Solicitor General, Advocate on Record .With this article we are trying to explain these commonly used terminology  in the simplest possible language.So u can differentiate between a Lawyer, Advocate, Barrister, Public Prosecutor etc.

Lawyer
A person who gets a law graduate  degree is a lawyer. In simpler words it can be said that  a person who has studied law and has a degree in law is a lawyer.

Advocate
A lawyer who clears A. I. B. EAll India Bar Examination conducted by Bar Council of India and gets himself registered with Bar council is a Advocate.
It is also important to be told that these days every person with a degree in law does not get a right to practice in law field.A lawyer to be a advocate has to clear All India Bar Examination commonly known as all A.I.B.E held by BAR COUNCIL OF INDIA.A.I.B.E is held every 6 months on all India level.
Section 2(1)(a)Advocate Act 1961-''Advocate'' means an Advocate entered in any roll under the provision The Advocate Act 1961.

Barrister
A person who gets a law degree from England is known as Barrister. 

Public Prosecutor
A Advocate who appears from victims side is a public prosecutor..It can also be explained as a Advocate who represents government in Session court is Public Prosecutor 

Advocate General
A Advocate who represents state government is known as Advocate General. 

Attorney General
A Advocate who represents center government is Attorney General.
He is governments chief legal advisor .He is appointed by President of India on advice of union cabinet under Article 76(1) of Indian Constitution.

Solicitor General
A Advocate who assists Attorney  General is known as Solicitor General. he is subordinate to advocate general.

A. O. R-Advocate on Record
Advocate who has cleared Advocate on Record Exam conducted by Supreme court are known as Advocate on Record and are entitled to practice in supreme court.

Extension of limitation period in lockdown by Supreme Court.

Most of the courts have been closed from last march to presently in July. In this respect Supreme court has ordered extension of limitation expiring after 15 march to fifteen days after lifting of lockdown in jurisdictional area where dispute lies. Snapshot of order is made available here.
